This April had seen tons of fresh new kindie songs from artists old and new, as well as an explosion of returning favorites celebrating the wonders of springtime and nature as we celebrate Spring, for those in the Northern Hemisphere. I've also added a new track from my good friend 123 Andres, a fun new video from Little Miss Ann, and a collection of comedic songs from Flula Borg and Go Banana Go!
Pick It Up
(Fyutch)
Fyutch is one of 2021's hottest new names in kids music. Last January, he put out "Black Women in History" along with Rissi Palmer and SNOOKNUK, describing the many African-American figures in US history, and last month, he struck again with another boss banger with Uncle Jumbo called "My Crown" celebrating the beauty of Black hairstyles. Both songs have enjoyed good runs on the "13 Under 13" countdown on SiriusXM's Kids Place Live.
And as they say, one good song deserves another, and he has done it again with this cool track just in time for Earth Day.
This song has a very fun vibe mixed in with an important message of how we can all do our part to protect the one and only planet we call home, and it is true to Fyutch's tradition of making hip-hop for kids that's wholesome, positive, and inspiring.
The whole song has a vibe that makes you wanna get up and down and stand for the planet at the same time. And not to mention, did you know that he is making this song into a TikTok dance? If so, that would be a way that this vital message reaches everyone and can help spread the word to teens and tweens.
This goes to show that Fyutch makes music that kids, teens, and parents can truly enjoy and can learn something from.
Like this song? You'll also enjoy his other songs, "My Crown" and "Black Women in History". This will make you see that he definitely is the Travis Scott of kids music, and everything he makes is always thoughtful and uplifting.
Marshmallow Man
(Little Miss Ann)

Little Miss Ann has been on a roll in the recent months. In the previous kindie related article, I had highlighted her song with Frances England called "Bright Winter Day". It's all part of a new album she has been spending most of her pandemic time making. It's called "28 Days" and its coming out this May.
This is one of the many songs we can expect from that new album. It is a collab with fellow kindie lady Suzi Shelton. The song puts the traditional "Muffin Man" into a rock flavor and is a throwback to the days when you had imaginary friends and you share the world with them, as it details the world the Marshmallow Man resides in and what adventures he has.
This has to be a flawless tribute to the spirit of imagination and all the wonderful places that it can take you. This song is just as innocent as childhood itself.
Oh, and by the way, the music video is just as good as the song itself. The stop motion effects really match the spirit of the song and all the imagination behind it. And she also made use of products that are made here in the Philippines! Talk about representation!
Keep your ears out for her new album, "28 Days" coming to you May 7th! Follow her on Facebook and Instagram for more updates!

(123 Andres)

In the last year, 123 Andres had been heavily involved in many projects and fundraisers involving many nonprofits that have been helping out children in things like remote learning and the distribution of educational resources.
This is also one of them. They were tapped by an international medical nonprofit called Physicians for Peace to help out in spreading an important message to Latin American communities.
Of course, many people are stuck at home due to the pandemic, despite some countries reopening economies and ensuring everyone has a right to be vaccinated. And with that, burns and burn-related injuries are on the rise in Latin America, and is becoming a side epidemic to the current pandemic.
So to help spread the word about burn prevention and safety to the area, they have called upon 123 Andres to make a song carrying the message. And so they did.
I seem to like the message that they want to impart, as burns can cause children to miss out on the joys of life because of burns, and very young kids can be protected against the coronavirus by staying home, but that does not protect them from hazards around the house. And on the side of 123 Andres, I like how they use their native language and their expertise in entertaining Spanish speaking kids and how they reassure them to help keep them safe from burns. All in all, this is a wonderful, universal message and also something we need right now to help in our lives at home.
Not to mention, they have a virtual fundraising event this coming April 25th on their Facebook and Youtube pages. You must check it out.
It's For You
(Flula Borg feat. Go Banana Go!)
There are thousands of great kids artists out there. But no one has the silliness and the zaniness of newcomer Go Banana Go! Based out of Los Angeles, GBG is comprised of Jim Roach and Brian Wecht (One of them had been behind a major record label and has produced for Sara Bareilles and Linkin Park, the other is behind a hip indie comedy troupe) and they have produced a handful of songs for what NPR calls "stir-crazy kids". How that came about was when Roach's 5-year-old daughter was satisfied by his silly songs that perked her up, and his wife called him "insane for not writing a kids album", he told NPR. And that lead to the conceptualization of Go Banana Go, having released an album titled "Hi-ya!".
For GBG's second kids offering, they have called upon well-known adult comedian Flula Borg, who appeared on Pitch Perfect 2 (as one of the members of the German acapella team) as well as on the hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm and on The Good Place. He had also appeared with Conan O' Brien and had a string of viral celebrity interview videos with big name stars like Will Ferrell and Anna Kendrick, among others. GBG wanted to take the comedy to the next level, and it seems that Flula was the man for the job.
The songs here are utterly unexpected and will leave you smiling, dancing, and in stitches. One of my favorites here is "Funky Fresh" (video above) and it's not only imaginative, but also very stimulating and mind-blowing to listen to. The comedic and imaginative genius of Borg and the signature storytelling of Go Banana Go seem to blend well together here. Another favorite of mine is called "I Live in a Banjo" as it is also full of unexpected surprises and I also loved how the lyrics and the song's settings change from verse to verse as it goes from tubas to pirate ships real fast without you expecting anything.
I can assure you, this is an enjoyable, wholesome, and totally comedic experience. It's full of delirious delights.
As an extra bonus, I'll be throwing in a special Spotify playlist made for you. It's springtime in the Northern Hemisphere, and it's a time of bunnies, flowers, and the wonders of nature slowly blossoming after the long winter.
I have curated a special playlist of sounds of the season, featuring old favorites and fresh new songs from cool kindie artists including Kelli Welli, Little Miss Ann, Claudia Robin Gunn, SaulPaul, Lucy Kalantari, Jazzy Ash, and Laurie Berkner.

Hola Matt! Thank you so much for including our song "¡Cuidado!" on your blog post. You hit the nail on the head with everything you explained - burns among are the TOP 5 causes of death for kids age 0-5 (i know, right??!?!?!?) and many of those burns take place at home not with flames or firecrackers but with hot liquids. So this song was our attempt to empower kids by teaching them and their families about how to avoid risks.
